Body Psychotherapy and Bioenergetic Analysis

Bioenergetic Analysis is a holistic psychotherapeutic approach that opens the path to vitality, pleasure, joy, love, autonomy, and a joyful connection with others and the world.

Bioenergetic Analysis is a branch of body psychotherapy based on the premise that the mind and body are not separate, but are integral aspects of a unified whole.

Dr. Alexander Lowen, founder of Bioenergetics in 1956, realised that emotional problems must be addressed through a combination of verbal conversation and the exploration of body language – that is, how a person breathes, moves, and expresses themselves physically.

In Bioenergetic Therapy, we focus on the individual’s psychological issues and the manifestation of these in their body, energy, and movement. The verbal work involves exploring the person’s past, dreams, future projections, and current problems.

The bodywork helps people to become aware of their emotional problems at a bodily level, addressing disturbances in breathing and releasing chronic muscle tensions.

By addressing conflicts at a cognitive, emotional, physical, and spiritual level, Bioenergetic Therapy works with the whole person. Its aim is to help each individual gain a greater understanding and awareness of old patterns of action and reaction, increase the capacity to tolerate and resolve old pains, conflicts, or traumas, and enhance the ability to experience pleasure. This results in an improved connection with oneself, with others, and with the world.
