Barcelona NEST (originally named the Multidisciplinary Mental Health Network) was founded in the year 2000 by Dr. Jill Jenkins, who brought together professionals trained in diverse fields such as psychology, psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioural therapy, psychodynamic therapy, group therapy, dance and movement therapy, play therapy, and special education. Initially, NEST’s objective was to provide supervision and professional development for its members.

As the group grew, it became evident that NEST could offer services to the English-speaking population of Barcelona. The group decided to expand its goals to serve this population through schools, companies, or on an individual basis.
